"Let's add 9 feet, 3 inches of DWL and 11,000 pounds of displacement to the Oyster 485 and give it to British designer Bill Dixon to manipulate. The result is Ta Shing's Taswell 56. A quick look at the interior will tell you that the additional LOA really helps spread out the interior components."
"Fiberglass decks are fun and challenging to design. They are exercises in sculpture, and in maintaining enough draft angle to surfaces to release them from the mold. The 56 is a beautiful example of deck sculpture. The effect is almost that of a flush-deck boat, with a small, raised doghouse. The trunk starts forward as a low wedge that features a sunken area forward of the mast. The raised portion of house aft allows the cockpit to sink into the structure and not look piled-on, wedding cake-style."
"The rig is drawn as a cutter. The SA/D ratio of this design is 16.71. While mainsheet traveler placement is always a battle on aft cockpit cruising boats, it is simplified on these center cockpit boats. End-of-boom sheeting is by far the best way to go."

ACCOMODATIONS
Three stateroom, two head layout.
Starting forward you will find the guest stateroom with a centerline queen berth, storage beneath as well as two hanging lockers. Next aft, to starboard, is the original mid-ship office cabin which has been converted to a full width berth with custom mattress, and access to storage underneath. Opposite this cabin is the forward head and separate stall shower. Easy to clean white laminate surfaces and head (Vacuflush).
Next aft is the remarkable main salon. There is a large C shaped settee to starboard with a dining table. To port is a smaller settee. Stowage space is generous here, beneath and outboard of the settees. Tankage and batteries are both beneath the salon floor. The navigation station is to starboard with captains seat and plenty of storage.
In the starboard passage to the aft cabin is a single berth, storage and access to the engine room. The master stateroom boasts a queen sized berth, on the centerline, with twin curved settees on either side. There is a generous amount of hanging locker space and drawer storage and a vanity with mirror at the forward end of the stateroom. There is a very large aft en suite head with separate shower.

The Beneteau First 38s5 was introduced in 1989 and continued in production until 1995,with 120 hulls completed. The design was a collaboration of designers Jean Berret and Philippe Starck, who designed the interior.
Jean Berret, who was responsible for the hull and rig, designed what was to become one of Beneteau?s most successful fractional rigs. The design he achieved created a very fast boat that could be raced competitively and yet easily handled by a cruising couple. The 38s5 handles responsively in all wind conditions, from light to heavy air, close hauled, on a reach or down wind.
The hull of the 38s5 is constructed of solid GRP laminates. The integrated GRP grid system is bonded into the hull and used to transfer the rig loads evenly throughout the hull structure. The decks are composite, with a variety of core materials in different areas and have radiused transitions from the house top to the deck and non-skid over the entire house and deck surface. The interior makes extensive use of GRP liners, with pre-cut and fabricated modules. The bulkheads are all bonded 360 degrees into both the hull and deck, which results in a light but extremely rigid structure.

The Tartan-34C is a traditional Sparkman Stephens designed in 1969. Stepping aboard one notices wide decks and a generous cockpit that drains well. The design is a keel centerboard which allows the boat to perform well to windward and yet still capable of shallower harbors frequently encountered when cruising. The companionway is designed for off-shore sailing such that up to three hatch boards can be set to prevent any boarding wave from going into the cabin.
Looking below you will find a well-ventilated quarter berth to port, just aft of a small navigation table with chart drawer underneath. An 18" opening port provides excellent air and light. Immediately to starboard is an L-shaped galley that has a 10" deep sink with a retractable swiveling spray hose. The original, two burner alcohol stovetop, with a cutting board cover providing a generous counter top. Just aft of the stove is a generous storage area for dry goods, the Icebox has been removed.
In the main cabin, there is a generous dinette to port that utilizes one of the seat-back cushions to create a large double berth. A bulkhead-mounted drop-down table with an extension leaf provides for comfortable seating for five. Under the dinette is a 25-gallon fuel tank and dual, oversized batteries.
The engine is located amidships, along the centerline, a product of smart S&S nautical engineering. Then the easily removed engine cover provides nearly all around engine access.
To port and aft is a cozy pilot berth that has a padded bunk board that can be positioned to serve as either a back rest or lee board. Underneath is a 35-gallon water tank that has two access / inspection ports to facilitate cleaning.
